About Sunset Stables

Our Story

Sunset Stables is proudly owned and operated by Alayna Joseph. The farm was purchased back in 2007 by the Gnagy family and slowly grew into a small hobby farm to support Alayna's riding habit and her FFA animals. Through acquisitions, hard work and true grit, the farm has since grown into a small scale professional & private horse boarding facility. We pride ourselves in providing care that speaks to the horse owner that wants a quiet and positive place to enjoy their horse without the hustle and bustle that a larger facility might posses.

Our Methodology

Horses were designed to roam and graze all day on the plains and we like to keep that at the forefront of our minds. We provide 24/7 turnout on a rotational schedule. This ensures your horse has 12 hours of grass turnout and 12 hours of turnout on a round bale to keep their digestive systems happy and moving as they would in the wild. Grain is provided twice daily and horses are fed in separate stalls to relieve the stress of competitive eating, limit losses and prevent injury. We currently provide feeding programs for the hard keeper, the performance horse and the pasture king. The horses are brought in during inclement weather and when pasture conditions aren't suitable for the horse's health and well being. We provide feed, hay and shavings in the monthly board rate. We ask that all supplements, medications, special feeds and other extras that the owner would prefer their horse to have, be provided by the owner. The dispensing of all extras is included in our monthly rate. We know it can be daunting to leave the house in the pouring rain and howling wind so we will blanket for you at no additional fee. We hope to provide your horse with care that keeps them healthy and happy on the inside and out.

Disappointed that our barn might not work for you? Reach out to us anyway! We have lots of contacts in the area and may be able to find a more suitable arrangement here for you locally. We do not currently offer lessons, training, private trail rides or birthday parties.

The Owner

Alayna Joseph is an avid eventer and enjoys competing at local and USEA Area V events (and beyond!) She graduated from Texas A&M in 2014 with her Bachelors of Science in Animal Science. Alayna grew up trying every discipline she could from dressage to jumping and barrel racing. In college, she practiced reining and stock horse as a part of her course work and enjoys translating what might be considered "western concepts" in her every day English riding and training. She continues to ride and train her own horses while working in Human Resources full time for a petrochemical company.  Alayna enjoys spending time discussing various boarding and riding topics with her clients as well as researching different feeds on the market and how they provide different levels of nutrition for the horse. She believes that going to the barn should be something you look forward to everyday and that your boarding facility should provide you peace of mind when you aren't there. Her motto for the barn is, "Positive & Professional".
